Whether you’re a member of a sorority or just want to plan a fun sisterhood with your Strong Girl Squad, I’ve put together a list of sisterhood event ideas that are fun and healthy for your mind and body! These events are perfect ways to bond with your sisters and start new healthy traditions together!
1. YOGA + BRUNCH
Yoga is a great way to not only stretch your body, but also destress and relax your mind. What better way to start your day or weekend than with morning yoga with your girls! Practicing morning yoga helps you set your intention for the day. And, going through a yoga flow with your sisters will help you feel more connected and mindful. You’ll be more flexible in mind and body and open to new ideas and opportunities together.
Head to brunch afterwards for a healthy, nutritious meal. You’ll all be radiating positive, happy and healthy vibes all day! Make this a weekly tradition. And, if your chapter house offers a weekly brunch, help your house chef plan a healthy brunch menu together!
2. FRIDAY NIGHT SPIN
Spin classes have reinvented themselves these past couple of years into full on dance, club and party experiences with dimmed lights, loud music and motivating DJ instructors! Instead of going out to the hottest club on Friday nights with your girls, saddle up on bikes at your local spin studio for a sweat sesh together!
You’ll all ramp up your endorphins and burn major calories, while ending your school or work week on a positive, energetic and healthy note! Your sisters are with you through every pedal stroke of class, you’ll bond and feel closer through this intense workout journey and come out a stronger and healthier tribe at the end! Read this Strong Girl Guide to Spin for pointers and tips before your first class!
3. TAKE A HIKE
Experienced hiker or newbie…there are trails for everyone and all different levels. Hiking is a great cardio workout and an awesome way to get outdoors and in touch with nature, all while socializing and having a great time! You’ll not only get your dose of vitamin D, but also boost your mental clarity, well-being and connections with your girls. You don’t need to trek intense terrains or scale mountains to reap the benefits of hiking. Look up hiking trails on trails.com for a list of local hikes you can set out to do together. Or, to start, you don’t need to go far, you can even plan your first “hike” on your campus track!
4. MEAL PREP PARTY
It can be challenging to make dinner every night of the week with a busy school or work schedule. Meal prepping with your roommates and friends is such a fun and healthy way to prepare for the week ahead. You can share healthy recipes and help each other stay on course with a healthy meal plan. It’s so much easier to eat healthier when all of your friends are on board, holding you accountable and helping you stick to it!
Recipes are usually intended for more than one person, so they’ll be easier to make with a couple of your friends. And, you can also split the cost of the food at the market and save money in the process, too! You can find over 75 recipes to prep and cook with your girls in the Strong Girl Recipe Guide!
5. HEALTHY POTLUCK DINNER
Plan a potluck dinner and share your cooking skills with your sisters! Potlucks are notorious for being unhealthy and full of fattening dishes, but they don’t have to be! Make it a healthy potluck and have guidelines for what everyone brings to the table. Make sure you have a balance of veggies, greens, carbs, protein and fats! And, okay, maybe wine! 🙂
You can even read the Strong Girl Nutrition Guide together and plan out your dishes with the Strong Girl Recipe Guide or, perhaps a healthy recipe you may have up your sleeve! Good food and company that’s good for your mind and body will go down in the books as a night of sisterhood to remember!
6. HEALTHY COOKING CLASS
As we enter college and our twenties, somewhere along the way we’re expected to start adulting and know how to cook. Some of us may have a knack for cooking, but for the rest of us, it can be stressful just cooking whole wheat pasta. Sharpen your skills with your girl gang and learn how to cook some healthy dishes together. Research local chefs and cooking instructors in your area and plan a fun night of learning together! If you have a kitchen in your chapter house, you can even plan the class there!
7. VISION BOARD SOIRÉE
Vision boards are a great way to keep your goals and dreams at the forefront of your mind every day! They are a visual reminder and representation of your intentions, affirmations and vision for the life that you want! We all know that reaching our goals and achieving our dreams requires a major force of consistent daily action. But, it’s also easy to get lost and get off track when life happens.
Creating a vision board and placing it somewhere you see it every day will help keep you inspired to get after it, as well as stay laser focused on the life you want to create. What’s a life without friends? Plan a fun soiree with healthy treats, poster boards and magazines with your girls! Cut out your inspo and share your goals and deepest dreams with each other. A supportive sisterhood is SO important when it comes to accountability and following through on your goals and intentions! The Strong Girl Lifestyle Guide has all the details on how to make your vision boards!
8. BOWLING…WITH ACAI BOWLS
Plan a fun night of bowling with your girls! You can play individually or on teams. Friendly competition never hurt anyone! You’ll build camaraderie and create fun memories!
Fun fact….I took bowling as my P.E. class in high school! Every morning at 7am, I’d bowl for an hour with my friends. Can’t say I’m joining a pro team anytime soon, but it’s definitely a fun way to bond! Although, I’d pick a different time of day! 😉
Instead of eating that bowling alley pizza (we’ve all been there), make acai or smoothie bowls together before or after your bowling game! You can add your favorite fruits and toppings and make yours unique and healthy!
9. HAPPY HOUR AT THE JUICE BAR
It’s happy hour somewhere in the world, right?! Happy hours don’t have to be in the evening and they definitely don’t have to require an alcoholic drink. Plan your version of a happy hour at your local juice shop with your friends! You can order your favorite juices and smoothies and toast to good health and friendship!
No smoothie shop in town? No problem! Make your own! Go grocery shopping for greens and frozen fruit and make your own juices and smoothies in a juicer or blender. Or, set up a cute parfait bar with different flavored yogurts and toppings! There are so many yogurts to choose from these days—from Greek and Icelandic to German quark. There’s something for everyone!
10. WEEKLY SWEAT SESH
Working out with your girl squad is the best thing ever! You can all hold each other accountable and reach your fitness goals together! And, it’s a blast to get a sweat sesh in with your girls. Trying a new class or studio you’ve never been to can be really intimidating! I put together mini Strong Girl Guides to Yoga, Pilates, Spin and Barre that you can read to help you before your first class! Going together as a big group or having the instructor come to you will make it all the more fun and less intimidating your first time!
You can also plan daily or weekly Strong Girl Workouts! Challenge your girl squad to the 5-Day Strong Girl Challenge and do these no-equipment workouts I filmed for you in the comfort of your college dorm room, apartment or sorority house! They’re less than 30-minutes each and target all of the major muscle groups! I can honestly say, I kicked my own butt with these workouts!
If you want to hit the gym together and learn the ropes of the weight room, you can step it up and get the Strong Girl Fitness Guide that has 8-Weeks of gym workouts with exercise descriptions and videos I filmed for you to learn how to do each exercise with proper form! You’ll learn how to navigate the gym and it’ll be even better with a friend or group!
11. RELAX, REFRESH + RENEW: SPA DAY
In our fast-paced world, we are constantly on-the-go and connected through our smart phones. It’s easy to forget that part of living an active and healthy lifestyle, ironically, requires days of rest and rejuvenation. Without taking time out to recharge, we set ourselves up for burnout, which can really set us back, not just in our goals, but also in our overall health and well-being. Learning how to manage your stress is key! We all need personal “me-time” to re-charge, but if you want to relax and reset your mind and body with friends, plan a spa day or spa night
You don’t have to pay hefty prices at a luxury spa, but instead re-create your own or plan an affordable and budget-friendly outing! Go to a nail salon for a mani-pedi with your girls. Visit a facial bar for facials to keep your skin clean and healthy. Or, go get massages to work out the kinks. You can even plan a mini-wellness overnight retreat away for your sorority or girl squad!
If you prefer to stay in for your spa day, recreate the relaxing vibes yourselves! Paint and polish your nails together! SpaRitual, a Strong Girl favorite, makes vegan nail lacquer in amazing colors! Subscribe to Facetory, another Strong Girl fav! Facetory is a subscription box service that delivers face masks directly to you once a month! I’m obsessed and each box is uniquely curated every month with the best face masks! It’s extremely affordable. You can share the costs with your sisters or keep your personal stash. A monthly Facetory party can be sisterhood favorite! You can also hire a local masseuse to come to you and your girlfriends for massages to help de-stress in between finals or heavy work seasons. Whatever you plan, make sure you use the time to disconnect from social media and really relax while you bond with your girls. Then post the pictures later! 🙂
12. LOVE LETTERS OF GRATITUDE
Studies have shown that expressing gratitude is a component to health and well-being. When was the last time you truly thanked your sisters and expressed appreciation for being amazing strong girls and great friends? Showing compassion and taking the time to share a moment and verbally express or write a letter of gratitude to your friend can boost both of your wellness levels! Plan a monthly love letter writing party where you write a love letter of gratitude to one friend or loved one and read it to her before exchanging. There may be tears, but it’ll totally be worth it!
13. STRONG GIRL WORKSHOP + WORKOUT
I have the amazing opportunity to work with sororities and women’s groups across the country with my Strong Girl Workshops + Workouts! The Strong Girl Workshop + Workout: Steps to a Stronger, More Confident + Happier You is an amazing opportunity for you and your sisters to reflect on your individual lives, work on yourselves, set goals and create the life of your dreams, with your sisters by your side. The stronger and more confident you become, the stronger the bond of your girl group—you’ll all be unstoppable! Imagine being able to rise and thrive together and to push each other to be your best selves every single day! The workshop + workout can be planned as a retreat or fun sisterhood day for your sorority or larger women’s community! It’s fun, engaging, inspiring and interactive!
