Tell us about yourself!

Hi hi! I’m Kaylee. Back home I coach gymnastics for little kids between the ages of 3-4 & 5-6. I absolutely love (and miss) going to the beach with my friends. I have an unhealthy obsession with puppies and coffee. Aaaannnddd, my favorite colors are yellow and coral. 🙂

What does “Strong” mean to you and what makes you a Strong Girl?

To me, the word strong is so much more than your physical capabilities. I believe most of strength lies within the mind. Willpower and perseverance is what makes someone strong in my eyes. When I have a plan or goal, I always find a way to make it happen. When something doesn’t go my way, I either change the situation or change my mentality. However, I need to work on maintaining willpower and self-control, especially when it comes to resisting sweets or over-indulgence.

What is your favorite thing about The Strong Movement?

My favorite thing about The Strong Movement is the positivity and love that it radiates. It is so crucial that girls at this age do not lose sight of how amazing they are and what they are capable of. I have so many beautiful friends who struggle with being insecure and it holds them back from trying and achieving new things. Confidence is the gateway to success and I love how the Strong Movement encourages that through living a life that is mentally and physically healthy.

What excites your about the Strong Girl Community at Arizona!

I am so so excited to be apart of the Strong Girl Community as well as expanding it! I am looking forward to building friendships and healthy habits with girls who have the same motives as me. I think the community is going to be super encouraging and motivating.

When did you discover fitness & healthy living and decide to make it a part of your lifestyle?

When I was a junior in highschool, I stopped doing competitive cheerleading and of course, my metabolism decided to start slowing down. I noticed that I was not happy with my body and wanted to get active. I loved the feeling after working out and started making small changes to my diet. I am still learning what works and what doesn’t in order to reach my goals.

How has exercise and healthy living increased your confidence and self-esteem?

Because working out releases endorphins, overall I have become a happier and more optimistic person. I have learned to love my body even when I don’t look my best.

What challenges and/or injuries did you have to overcome in your journey?

I’m so lucky to be able to say I have never severely injured myself! *knock on wood* However, I have taken many steps back throughout my journey. There have been many times when I eat all the right foods and workout consistently, but I fall off track and get careless towards my routine. There was also a point in my life where the medication I was taking made me gain 15 pounds!! It was very hard to accept myself and be okay with the extra weight, but eventually I burned it all off!

What keeps you motivated when the going gets tough?

My boyfriend motivates me to go to the gym as frequently as I can. He is a gym rat and loves going with me, so that’s helpful. Aside from that, I am very head strong and when I have a weekend of “cheating,” I am back in the gym immediately for a fresh start.

What do you love about your mind and body?

I love how i am very honest and straightforward. I cling to my pride which can sometimes be a bad thing but i think it’s a characteristic that makes me who i am. I am very appreciative of my skin so that’s probably what i love most about my body! Other than that, my body is so great at keeping me from being sick! So that rocks.

What do you wake up looking forward to and excited about everyday?

Honestly, I wake up so excited to eat breakfast. It sounds silly but, there is no better way to start a day. Eating an awesome breakfast that keeps me fueled and ready to take on the day gets me so stoked. Other than that, I love seeing my sisters and people who make me love being alive.

Do you have any daily rituals?

I am super freaky about daily rituals and routines! Normally, I wake up, check my phone, make breakfast, go to class, go to the gym and then do lots of homework! I always try and end my day off with some Grey’s Anatomy.
