It’s been so hard to keep this a secret, but I found out this summer that I was admitted to grad school at the University of Pennsylvania! When I graduated from USC as an undergrad, I never thought I’d go back to school to get my Masters. Well….never say never! I came across my DREAM program and decided to go for it! If you’ve been to a Strong Girl Workshop + Workout, you know that it’s based in positive psychology! And, when I found this program at Penn, it was like a calling for me! I knew I had to do it! I’m so excited for this new journey! I’ll be earning my Masters in Applied Positive Psychology – MAPP, for short!

Positive Psychology is much more than the “science of happiness.” Positive Psychology is the scientific study of human flourishing and positive human functioning. It’s about studying “the good life” and what makes life worth living–what makes life meaningful and fulfilling. It’s about understanding and studying the human strengths that allow us to rise and thrive and actualize and optimize. Additionally, positive psychology examines how we can enhance and improve both our psychological and overall well-being. Mental health is not the absence of a mental illness, but the full spectrum of the human condition. And, Positive Psychology aims to study how we can all be our best and live our best lives.

Positive Psychology was founded by Martin Seligman and not only will he be one of my professors, many of the experts and researchers who have contributed so much to the field will also be our lecturers throughout the year.

Even though I’ll be in grad school full time, I’ll still be traveling on the Strong Girl College Tour this fall semester for Strong Girl Workshops and Workouts with sorority chapters and Panhellenic communities all over the country! And, I’ll finally get an East Coast school experience, since Penn is in Philly! I can’t wait to learn, grow and share this journey with all of you!

I won’t be blogging as much, since I’m sure I’ll be writing lots of papers again! But, you can follow along in real time on Instagram!
